A performative concert-installation where Sisterloops works site-specifically, sculpturally and spatially with a large amount of cymbals and electronics. The cymbal takes place as an instrument, object and scenography. The setup is adapted specifically to different rooms with an interest in discovering and enhancing acoustic and performative possibilities of the space.
At 3e Vånigen for GIBCA – Extended in Gothenburg, October 2023, (Gothenburg International Biennale for Contemporary Art) Sisterloops presented a 3-hour performance installation.
The installation consisted of 70 broken cymbals, smashed and donated from mainly rock, punk and jazz musicians in Sweden and Germany. Some hanging from the ceiling with sensors-producing swinging bass drones, some on floor, piedestals and stands treated and performed with knives and mallets- producing heavy beats and noise textures, some prepared with transducers and chains- creating distorted singing cymbals.
